building paradise for the birds

good news i guess i got sent four ayam cemani...and they will be here wednesday...so not sure on how the hundred degree heat in a truck will go on them but wishing and hoping for the best...was so not wanting chickens right now...but better now then never...i guess....right....

Good luck with the shipment! Its cooler this week here, hopefully they make it safe and healthy.

I've read several reviews on GF and it comes back that they are mostly overpriced and over rated.
I have purchased about 80 birds from them because they have beautiful birds. If you don't mind volume you can get some when they auction them on rarebreedauction.com I have had several shipping issues though. This was mostly corrected~

I am so pleased with their stock I would take the risk again. They have the birds that I want to raise.

X2 to that. I always love seeing the yellow Goldens and the color on that Hmong too is a trip. You said you were keeping the other one as a breeder do you have any females lined up for him yet. And what news of that shipment from GF. Your experience with them has left a sour taste in most of our mouths and as much as I like the birds that they "offer" I don't believe I'll be going through them any time soon.

well here goes..this will prolly be one of the last posts for awhile...as some of my viewers know i have been tip toeing on certain political boundaries and it has not been the best of luck...so i will continue this journey if god allows me to one day...it has been a pleasure to share the ups and downs of a regular backyard flock owner...it is sad to say i have gotten rid of all my peafowl...and the quail...and now half of the pheasants and nearly all the chickens other then the fibros....i did receive the gff shipment...which is a totally differenit issue at hand ....thru our emails...there was alot of things that were said that never came thru on their part...replacing certain birds which never happened...the whole ayam cemani hype is just an american hype...with what i have seen very few of the birds you order will actually come out all black....even when you butcher them...they are not all black...had 8 now down to two...and none of them were truly all black...it has been a great experience to have done what i have down and the learning experience has been great...and the people that i have met thru this has been wonderful as well....i say thanks to all the viewers who have helped me and kept me going on a positive uplifting manner...an emotional standpoint is where i stand with no feet to hold myself up and no cane to support what is about to happen and unravel ....with that being said...i will miss you guys and sharing my story and spending time with the birds...thank you guys so much...until then god bless

Bro this is sad news indeed. I was just talking with my lady about how you hadn't posted in a while. Downsizing your flock I'm sure hasn't been easy. I do suspect quite a bit of hype in the fibro birds and would imagine after enough blood lines and generations your bound to have a few "all black" birds. That aside your presence on byc will be missed and I wish there was more that could be done. You can always find me here, and my offer still stands if you find yourself needing to take a break. Speaking of, ponds almost ready for water :)
Thankyou for sharing your experience with us and giving a birds eye view of a dedicated bird lover. I truly wish you the best and hope you'll still find some time to keep in touch even without this thread.
Thanks again birdman.
Stay positive

I will miss you! Seems lately a lot of members have jumped ship. Different circumstances, but still upsetting. Feel free to PM me anytime as well. I've learned a lot by reading your posts. Your original goal to make your grandfather proud, I'm sure has been accomplished 3 fold! Take care and God bless you as well.
