I can tend to underestimate the difficulty of things but after watching a few videos of people building cabinet incubators it really looks pretty reasonable. Specifically I watched someone build one from foam board. (YOUTUBE LINK) that looked quite easy to work with. Am I way off base?

I am interested in either buying the GQF1502 or attempting to build my own. I would love to hear your opinions. By the time I buy egg turners and other components plus the build time. Would I be better off just buying one? I am not afraid of the work, but at the end of the day for all the time/ money spent I do want to end up with something that works well.

Thoughts?

You always pay a bit more with DIY. But the lessons on the road are a bit more meaningful, at least that's how I sell it to myself.

I'm in a similar boat, but for a different reason. It get cold here, like real cold so cold that I drape a blanket over my incubator. I also would like to own a unit I can pull componentry out of and vacuum, clean and sterilise effectively with an internal I can hit with a hose. Additionally, the incubator I use has pretty garbage controls.

I'm leaning towards an Arduino controller in a display fridge with fans that can decouple and better motors and monitoring componentry. I'm still working out the costs with friends far more capable than me, but I will tell you what I get when I have it?

All the best.
