Built a Step Ladder Roost for Run

Why is the dirt bath under the roost? Won't it get poop (from the birds on the roost) in it? Will the chickens still use the dirt bath if someone is "sitting" above them?

They poop in it anyways, lol. We clean it out regularly. We’ll be monitoring the usage of the new roost, if it becomes a problem, easy fix. I literally just threw it out there last night after completing the build, knowing that I wanted it towards the middle of the run. The kiddie pool just happened to be in that spot as well.

I am considering building a platform for the dirt bath kiddie pool to help with drainage and our old hen who is getting up in age. The kiddie pool has holes drilled in it, but it almost needs to be raised a bit above ground.

Maybe I’ll add a diving board.

Made an upgrade to the step ladder this past weekend, adding a swing. Yes, the overhead poop bombs are still a possibility, however, they really use this almost like monkey bars in a playground and not a long term roost. They are quite entertained with this thing.

Also started working on a platform for the hot tub, I mean, dirt bath. Will be adding some decking to it in the near future. It was always the hangout spot, but now there are temporary pool chairs during construction
