Built a Third Coast Coop, Here are my thoughts.

Hi, i also live in Pennsylvania and looking into building this coop. Was it $750 for just the coop? I don’t see the run in the picture. Still trying to estimate how much its going to cost before i buy the plans.

Thanks
I built this coop using Douglas fir from Lowe’s , most of the rest from Lowe’s except roof from Depot and it cost 1500 or so with paint , accessories , etc.

I made a few changes to make it look much nicer from the outside (not showing the hardware cloth screws). Stained the run… painted Inside gloss white … and outside pink. All quality wood trim that fattens the out of pocket expense.

If I did it all over I’d raise it another 6-12 inches and make the coop 8ft wide. Also, the roost bars are staggered with the longer one on the bottom , chickens only want to use the top so I made some modifications to put a longer one up higher (not pictured). I will likely add a vent on the back wall in the coming months.

The angled brace’s on the run didn’t seem to be right in the plans. Drove me a bit crazy getting that right… the plans did their job but in a few spots I felt they lacked some details that would have made the process easier.

Really nice work!

Are you able to reach in enough for full cleaning? I’m guessing it’s 4’ deep and 8’ wide.
