We got 6 chicks and built a coop about that size. One ended up being a roo and the 5 left are 5 months old and doing great in it. They only go in to sleep at night, and during the day they are in the run or out roaming the yard if we are home. At night they all cram to one small section of the roost, leaving the whole length of the roost on the long side open. Be careful though - if you lose one that's a roo, you might end up replacing it by getting 9 more. We are in the process of building coop #2 while they are in the brooder.
