so the coop is finally finished and am planning out the run thanks to this site I will be using welded wire instead of chicken wire tractor supply had it on sale also I will be getting some 6ft pressure treated fence posts my question is would 2x4x8 be okay to go in between the posts to give me something to strengthen the wire just wanted some input on what you guys have done

I believe it is. I will probably use 2×4 for the top and 2×6 for the bottom to keep the run material in better.

thank you with being 6ft tall wire do I need to put netting on the top

I originally said no to this... Then I saw a hawk sitting atop my run looking down at my delicious birds. Now I have wire on top too

My run will be made from either fence posts or 4x4s with 2x4s to give added strength and I'm wrapping it with welded wire

I would cover it if even just to deter flying predators. I have a covered area and an open area. We had a hawk perched above our open area watching the girls. Thankfully they were all staying under the covered area and kept themselves safe. But I have since put chicken wire over the top just to stop the Hawks. It's cheap but doesn't offer superior protection. But the chicken wire is only on top and 6 feet off the ground and so far we have now issues
