Hi. My hen has a bulge in the top of her vent. I thought it was prolapse at first but nothing is hanging out. It’s more like a cyst or abscess or just major swelling. It does have a cut that I’ve been doctoring. She is pooping regularly, drinking good and eating a little. I have been cleaning the vent and surrounding area. I have her on antibiotics. I have been applying wound spray and neosporin to the cut. I started hydrocortisone cream today to see if it would help with inflammation. I gave her a little aspirin this morning as she wants to pick at it so I’m thinking it is painful. I really want to know what it might be. I have scoured the internet and can’t find anything like it.

Looks to be an inflamed vent, no telling how it got that way. I would give her a soak in warm Epsom salts and then keep hydrocortisone cream on it to reduce swelling. Keep her in a crate for a couple days until the swelling goes down.

Where is the cut? Do you have a photo of that?

I agree, I'd treat as suggested in POST#3
