Bulldog and Geese

The dog gave them a warning I would not let it happen again, last time my dog went after my gander he came to the door and knocked like he always did, I was at the computer when I heard this loud noise came running into the kitchen to find goose feathers all inside I just knew my dog had mortally wounded my gander what happened Sam the gander came to the door and my dog stuck her head through the dog door and grabbed his chest thankfully all she got was feathers. Needless to say the geese don't come into the back yard any more. this is the dogs territory .
oh no!

I have to say my dogs are pretty laid back when it comes to the chickens ducks and even the geese I don't let my dogs around tiny ducklings or chicks my goslings were in the house from 2 days old til 3 weeks when they went to live permanently with the adults. But having dachshunds their prey drive is just to high to be around very small animals.
I just think my gander set the stage for my larger dog to not like him and now the other 3 combined just think they are the mafia and can push them around like they do the rest of the flock, well they maybe able to scare my 3 little dogs but my med one has had enough. So now they can all only be together when dh and I are with them.

Yeah, they can be really awnry when it comes to the "pecking order." The geese need to know that they are actually LOWER on the totem pole, so to say, than the dog. I didn't let mine nibble when they were goslings, but my 5 year old was teasing them behind my back, and as soon as they figured out that they might be higher up than the little kid lol, out cane the chasing and actual biting.

Train the geese not to nibble. It will turn into biting... They are a lot like pups, in regards to how they can be properly trained. Establish that they can't chase and even bop them on the bill if they try to bite; with a 95 lb Bulldog, proper training could save a gooses life ;)

Aww dachshunds are adorable! My dog was around them since a few days old, they have grown more comfortable around her. She has never tried to hurt them. The pounce was more of a play pounce, but she's 95 lbs so she can be fatal accidentally. I always supervise her around them.
