And you're absolutely positive that EE is a hen? That's a fertilized egg.

I don't have an EE, just a Salmon Fave and a buff orpington.
At least 2 months ago they were both hens...I saw them both laying.
The Fave went broody, she sat on a duck egg and several banty eggs we got from someone else. The duck was hatching, and nicely pipped, momma left the nest an I peeked, it was a wash of yellow inside the shell, it had broken the yolk, but ws still alive so I tried to help it out, it was dead before I got it open enough to get it out.
The other eggs disappeared. I think either one of the piggy ducks, or one of the dogs ate them. The hen broke broody. She has laid twice since then...it's been a couple weeks.

Is there any chance that it is the female duck's egg, fertiled by the drake? If a duck egg looks enough like a chicken egg and if they are all housed together, that explanation sounds likely.

Then again, I'm still awaiting my bator in the mail. I've not done it before and I'm beside myself with excitement... or should that read eggcitement.

Is there any chance that it is the female duck's egg, fertiled by the drake? If a duck egg looks enough like a chicken egg and if they are all housed together, that explanation sounds likely.

I considered that...the femle duck lays big white eggs. the BO lays brown(the middle egg is the BO, they are darker and normal size now), and the other is a banty. that lays a pinkish white egg

. . . maybe you do have a hermaprodyte hen/rooster, or maybe one of your neighbours has a "travelling" rooster that just dropped in a paid a visit, or the BO's eggs are being fertilized by the drake?

My kid is hoping for a frankenstein bird.
That and she was all about the hermaphrodite theory and how it means the chicken is really cloning itself...
My head hurts to bad to think of the possibilities lmao
