I have a mixed flock of Rouen, Khaki, and Indian Runner ducks. I got them from the hatchery as a day old last year with no issues until now. Now one of the runner ducks has been singled out and the other ducks jump on its back and peck at its head and neck; as to injure it. The other runner duck seems to be reluctant around the others as well. Unfortunately, I am new to ducks and do not know their sex or how to tell the difference. Does anyone have any ideas on why the bullying all of the sudden?
Thanks
Tim

It could be possible that you have a bunch of drakes and one hen and they all want to have a little ducky fun. If you can post pics we can probably tell you what sex they are. Drakes have a curly tail on their backs.

If it's not a female/male ratio it could be that the one duck is sickly and the others don't want it near them. But I suspect that it's males being overly aggressive and wanting to mate.

I would separate the duck out until you can figure out what the cause it because they can and will end up killing your duck if they all gang up.

Thank you for the info. I will look at the link and see if I can identify them myself; will definitely post picks if not.
Thanks Again,
Tim

The best way to tell is if the tail curls. Also the males will be larger than the females. Males have more of a quack sound, and females will usually honk. I hope this helps!
