I have 2 Rhode Is Reds I bought them at 16 weeks, one started laying at 22 weeks, however the other one has only just started laying at 26 weeks, the problem is the latter one has been bullying the former since she started laying and over the past few weeks she has got a naked neck and back feathers are now being pulled out.
They free range most of the day so boredom not the issue, they are in a large coop with straw, leaves etc and branches and a ladder that they like to walk along.
I don't hear anything during the day so thinking it is happening at night.
Re their diet, they wont go near kitchen scraps (prev. chickens have gone crazy for scraps), just stick to picking grass, scratching in the garden and their scratch mix.
Any ideas to resolve e.g. should I get another chicken , though that one may then get bullied by the 'thug'. thanks in anticipation
