I actually have one of these from when my dog was a puppy to keep the cat safe from him and get him potty trained. I will try that. How did u do with the egg laying and sleeping at night? I can see to just put her with the others for roosting at night but In the pen she would not be able to access the nest box?
Hi, what we done was at first, was place, a plastic box, like you see in supermarkets
or fruit stores. We have loads, as when i have done a large food order online, some
supermarkets deliver the food in them, and you can keep them. We use them, as they
are so easier to clean. Then we put bedding inside, and placed it inside the playpen.
After a few days, she would start laying her eggs in it. You said, at night you would
put her in to roost, with the others. I hope you don"t mind, me saying, but if you can
find a solution, for her to roost, separately from the others, only until her feathers
grow back, because as soon as daylight appears, they will start on her again. We were
lucky as our pens, on the bottom, we put a cage barrier up, so they could not get at her.
We done this until she got stronger, they also got use to seeing her, but could not get at her either. Yes, it took about 6 weeks, then this one day, we let her out with rest. We
could not believe our eyes, as they took no notice whatsoever of her. lol And they all
accepted her back. So if you can, sort another way, for her to roost, until her feathers
grow, at least you will have peace of mind, not going to bed, worrying if she is okay. lol.
Ours use to lay every day in the plastic crate. Let us know how you get on. You will find a way. lol
