Hi. I removed the entire scab from the one pad, now I need advice to excise and drain the puffy bumble in the other foot.
She's s 2yr. Old leghorn. Limping and holding the swollen leg up. The black scab is where I've removed a stem and drained white curd like puss.
If you look carefully there is a pin hole on the pad. How deep and how long should I cut that area open? And should I excise the red looking area as well on the top?
I've been soaking in Epsom salts2x/day, 20 min. applying vetricin, wrapping.
Just picked up penicillin G today but not injected yet. Thank you😊

Just to clarify, I've removed Callous from her right foot no problem, soaked and popped it out , no white puss.

It's the left foot top is where I squeezed out white curds and now had a dry scab. Tricky part is cutting the pad on that left foot. Just enlarge that first pic and see that pin hole. It's probably the foreign object entry point. Thank you.

Right foot healing nicely.
Left foot I cut two areas on top that was bulging and the pad part. Mostly blood on the pad but some yellow liquid and scant amount of white curd. Applied Vetricin, gauze pad and wrapped.
Gave penicillin g w/ a 16g needle in breast tissue.
I'll post pictures after I unwrap tomorrow.

This morning day 2 post op.
Still swollen after soaks, surgery and 1/10 CC penicillin in breast.
I don't know if I needed to go deeper in pad. Got mostly blood. Wondering if I should cut out top part and try to get kernel to come out that way.
Right foot looks good, new lighter scab forming.
