I have treated bumble foot before, but I have not seen one like this. The foot is swollen but there doesn't seem to be a real plug or scab to cut out. I have been soaking the foot 2 times a day for 30 minutes thinking that if that black thing is a plug it should loosen. Any insight would be helpful.

I will look into Bactrim, but I doubt my vet will sell it to me, but I can try. I have tons of rubbing alcohol. If I use other of these will I have to cut into the foot? Or do they help to treat the infection underneath? I am trying to avoid cutting the foot if possible.

Sigh, cutting the foot is probably best giving the size of this. I just can't do it and had to go to the vet. I realize that's not an option for everybody and not everybody has an avian vet like I do. The last time the bacteria reduced the size after about 7 days and I was able to peel it out. Gross gross it smelled bad but the duck is fine now.

Ok. It doesn't seem like it will soak out anyway. How long did it take for your ducks foot to heal? I am leaving in about 10 days on vacation for 2 weeks and I don't want to give my mom an extra job while she is caring for them.

Smart not wanting to cut the foot and only doing as last resort. Opens it up for infection but unfortunately is what needs to be done sometimes. If you have trouble soaking foot. Look up the bucket method. Hope it all turns out !
