Hello everyone,
I have a young chicken that had bumble foot. She is about 6-7 months old.
We (my wife and I) are new chicken owners. We followed the steps to get the infections out. Watched a lot of YouTube. It worked out pretty well.
We actually had two chickens with it. One chicken did not have a bad case at all and in two weeks was out of bandages.
The 2nd chicken had it worse. Swollen foot. Infection was removed, and we got the kernel from both feet. We packed with antibiotic ointment and wrapped them up. We have been checking and rewrapping every couple of days. We checked last night, they seem to look good. We don't see any infection but there is still a whole. We packed and rewrapped. The only issue I have right now is she is limping and not using one foot. Any advice? We are going to change the bandage again tonight when we get home from work. I ordered Prid online and I am waiting for it to come in. I think I am doing everything right? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Depending on how big the hole was she may still limp for another week or so. Picture if someone to a cork sized piece out of your foot. You would be limping for a bit to say the least. It feels weird because there is a hole, it’s tender to the touch and there an odd bandage wrapped around her foot that she is not used to. If everything is looking good and like it’s otherwise healing up just keep doing what you are doing. On another note some chickens will limp simply because they have a bandage on and are not used to having anything on their feet.

Thank you so much for your response. That makes me feel better. I guess I worried because she was bandaged up for a few weeks and just started to limp. We will keep doing what we are doing. Again, thanks
