Hi how is your hen today? Is there a scab on the underside of her foot, can you post pics? And does she seem to be in pain? There’s barely a kernel. Is swelling. No scab? What do I do? Please advice. Tia
Now I spotted something black this morning? Should I still do what you recommended? Picture below thank youThat looks like something you could easily drain and clean out.
It looks like the infection is making an exit in her foot. I had one hen that had similar and it was the easiest bumble foot I ever had to treat.
Personally I would soak the foot in a warm epsom salt soultion to soften the skin anduse an exacto knife and make an opening and squeeze to pus out. If it goes they same way my hens foot did it may keep draining on it's own until all the swelling goes down.
I added an updated picture, didn’t notice anything on the bottom of her foot. Just noticed something black, and there isn’t much of a scabHi how is your hen today? Is there a scab on the underside of her foot, can you post pics? And does she seem to be in pain?
Okay, I will try this. Thank you, so you suggest I just wrap the bumble and it should go away on its own if I do what you wrote above every three days? sorry I’ve never dealt with this. I did have antibiotics but I used up the last of those so I’ll go pick up those. Is there anything else you suggest I pick up? Thanks for all the help it is very much appreciated.Soak in water with iodine for about 10 min. Dry off, then put a gauze pad with neosporin, wrap with vet wrap. Leave on for 3 days or whenever the wrap falls off. Check and repeat. I'd be reluctant to drain it, but I would suggest a warm compress (warm water with a cloth). This process works, but it takes time.
This looks very infectious. I'd be super careful (as I see you are). Do you have antibiotics?
