You should check on it daily afterwards to make sure it doesn’t get worse or come back. You can use vet wrap to make sure it doesn’t get dirty.![]()
So Google did say there would be pus, but when I treated my chicken’s bumblefoot, I never saw any, so removing the scab should be good enough. If it was a worse case of bumblefoot there might’ve been pus.thanks for the reply im sort of confused as normally pus comes out but it seems just skin and blood under the brown scab not sure what to do or dig deeper? maybe its very little? not sure but the kernel is big seems just like blood and tissue under the brown bit
Some of mine didn't have puss, I was able to heal it after years of dealing with it.thanks for the reply im sort of confused as normally pus comes out but it seems just skin and blood under the brown scab not sure what to do or dig deeper? maybe its very little? not sure but the kernel is big seems just like blood and tissue under the brown bit
Just makesSome of mine didn't have puss, I was able to heal it after years of dealing with it.
Here's what I did:
I soak the chicken's feet for fifteen minutes in warm Epsom salt water (you can always soak longer). Then I apply antibiotic ointment with a bit of Epsom salt poultice and wrap each foot loosely with a bandage. Once the infection softens up, I will either cut it out or push the puss out. Depending on how bad it is, it might bleed, so have a towel to stop the blood. After the puss is out, keep wrapping and cleaning the feet for another two to three weeks or until the feet are fully recovered.
If it's just a scab I'd keep wrapping and cleaning till it heals.
Epsom salt poultice for bumblefoot.
I have pictures in my article:

Awww, I'm sorry. Yeah one of my hens was like that. Blood flowed everywhere! Can you keep wrapping and cleaning for another week? And from there see how it works? Also are you able yo get the Epsom salt poultice I posted about? It worked immediately for me.Just makes
me feel different cause theres a big lump looks abnormal like it should be released like a pimple no pus just blood and skin so maybe it's just blood? I don't want to pick more unless it is just blood in the lump so stopped. even squeezing. Nothing but blood I have picked away the brown scab anyway but makes me feel like it's something still there cause it still lumpy not sure![]()
