bumble head?! 8 week pullet

she's 8 weeks old. We got her at 7 weeks, and yes when she was with the seller she was out with 2 roo's.

A bumble foot is when a chicken gets a small boo boo, generally undetectable, on their foot. A staphylococcus infection can occur since the foot has poor circulation so a painful lump develops in the foot. You can YouTube surgeries to see how chicken owners remove the lump, kinda like a corn.

Bumble foot happens, no real rhyme or reason. We free range, super clean grass rotated pastures. Good news is, its only happened twice for us.

This mornings picture! Amazing! I'm convinced it was a bumble! But on her head!!!

I would say shes been pecked on and it infected. You could clean it up with peroxide and put an antibiotic ointment on it. I got a hen that was like that at the base of her tail on her back, it was so crusted and full of poop. They were shipped here in a small crate crowded. It took a month to get it to heal. Other birds will peck on them.

Pus solidifies in chickens to those little cheese-like cores. This is what happens in bumblefoot, also. She probably had an infected peck wound or tiny cut which is how bumblefoot occurs.
