Thanks. Sparkles was such a sweet and affectionate girl. Found her dead when I went to fill her water dish and it broke my heart. She was in some pain I’m sure and isn’t suffering anymore.

So here is a pic of her having somehow already lost the only duck bootie I have (you can see how ruffled she is. She is usually meticulous in her grooming which is a reason I put her out a day or so early. Was worried about her

But notice now the right leg (her right) is sticking under her

also notice how the other ducks splashed water out of their pool to get her nice and muddy. Such teamwork

Touched it and it’s not warm at all any more and she is moving around on it. Limping but moving.

Gave her some b complex that I had and will get some more. Her wound is healed and I’m hoping it’s just a bit sore. Will keep an eye on her


Also I know there is a gap under the frame of the pen. That’s a drainage canal for the pen. It flows down a slope into my pond. There is a metal grate just behind the frame and 3 layers of hardware cloth and fencing skirting it 6 feet out, with the grass planted over it so it’s embedded in the ground to keep out diggers
