I noticed my hen (about 5 or 6 years) limping and after quick inspection she had bumblefoot... they next day I treated it and I believe removed the kernal. however once i was looking at the soaked clean foot more I noticed a hard dark, oval growth on the bottom on the middle toe nail. It was stuck and seemed to be growing out of the base of the toe, she seemed to not like it much when I was tugging at it. Not thinking clearly I did not take a picture and I cut away at the hard nail like growth until it seemed to be "gone". I am figuring this along with bumblefoot was what was bothering her.
It was not on the skin. The source was from the base of the nail, almost the toe skin but not quite.
It almost seems like the other toe is getting growth as it seems to have a small bump on the bottom base of the toe.
Does anyone have any idea what this is? or have heard about it?
I cant seem to find anything and not sure right now what to do for her.
I can try and post a picture soon of the other nail if that would help.
Please and thank you in advance!
