Bumblefoot in Turkeys - According to the Vet

Yup even a single tiny cut on the foot can allow the bacteria in, doesn't require a splinter to give to the bird, you can inject the foot with anti's, Had a chicken that had it a few years ago and just injected the bird in the chest with the antis and the bird healed right up. we removed the plug as well... the foot must also be kept clean and dry as well.

for meat turkeys large calluses can and often build up on the foot making one think possible bumble foot, but you can tell bumble foot from callus growth by looking at the birds pad, if there is a plug you got bumble foot.

Treatment and Prevention:
Staphylococcosis

Hi, I have a 25 pound commercial Turkey, that I believe has bumble foot. I can not open these lesions. She FREAKS out and even my 6.4’ husband can't hold her down. What can I do to treat her? So far soaking with persons sale and drawing salve. It's very very cold here in CT right now so that doesn't help. She mostly stays in the coop because Ibdontbwant her outside in the run all day if it snows rains, etc. I've had her for four years!

Please make a new post in the Turkey forum so someone stands a better chance of seeing it. This thread is considered a zombie thread as it's from 2009 and the OP hasn't been on in many years. I really hope you get some help!
