Hi all, my first time with BF.

She's a 1.5 yr old leghorn, noticed the lesion last night (pic 3316) . she's 1 of 9. 9 hens, 1 roo. Very clean coop. I soaked in epsom salt, removed brown plug with tweezer. I couldn't see anything else to remove--No "goo", "cheese", blood, etc. Just a dark, hard core. This was last night (light blue towel pic, photo 3317)) It looked clean and like I had done my job! I've been using plenty of veterycin, neosporin, etc.

A bit more swollen this morning (green towel, pic 3320) but I can't see anything else I could reasonably remove. There's a bit of white swelling inside the hole this morning, and still some dirt. I'm going to flush out the hole with a syringe and epsom salt to get the rest of the dirt out tonight.

If I need to get more out, I'll need a vet because it would take a much bigger cut. It seemed super straightforward when I removed last night. Nothing obvious to pull.

Is anyone thinking "nope, you didn't get it?" Thanks, experts.

Did you squeeze it well when you were treating it? You can also try soaking it in Betadine or Epsome salts, and then trying to squeeze out the kernel of pus inside.

I did squeeze a bit, but it was pretty clean and an empty hole after I pulled the plug out. I'm unsure if the white I'm seeing now is pus I need to pull out.
