Never had that happen. I guess I would get it cleaned up really well and spray some vetericyn on it then some betadine. Top it off with some neosporin and then gauze and vet wrap. Pretty much like treating bumblefoot. One thing I have found that really helps is a product by 3m called Nexcare waterproof foam tape. It is colored like a bandaid, kind of a tan color. Not the white paper tape. You can find it on Amazon. Once you apply it it will not come off. I use it when I treat a bird for bumblefoot. It allows you to wrap the vet wrap a bit looser. Then the vetwrap won`t cut into the birds toe. 🙂

Thank you!

I agree with @Bsmac.
If you don't start seeing improvement within a few days, or it's obviously getting worse, the next steps I would take would be to pack the wound with sugardine after cleaning and wrap (sugardine is plain white sugar mixed with a bit of betadine to make a paste), and/or start an oral antibiotic like amoxicillin. You can get amoxicillin as a fish antibiotic without prescription online as fish mox or aqua mox, the price has increased substantially. Dose for amoxicillin is 57 mg per pound of body weight, twice a day, for 5 -7 days.

Good advice from @coach723 as always. I was going to suggest warm soaks daily to the feet with Betadine or Epsom salts in the water, but her sugardine method may be easier. Wrapping feet can potentially be dangerous if the tape becomes too tight and interrupts circulation. Hopefully the foot will begin to heal with the treatment. Let us know how it looks later.
