Hey everyone,

I have a hen that has bumblefoot but I’ve never had to treat it before. I worked on her foot yesterday but I’m not sure if I got everything out. Is there a way to know for sure? Is the swelling supposed to go down immediately or does it take a few days? Thanks for any help!

If you got the solid pus kernel you've done the job. Depending on the extent of the swelling, it may never go down completely.

You will know if you cleaned out the wound adequately if the new scab is paper thin and flat and a light brown color.

I also have a hen with bumblefoot. Both feet had black spots! After removing the kernels the foot had a pocket or little indent where the kernel is.
I soaked it in Epsom salt. What else did you do?

I have a duck who has bumble foot on both feet but one is worst then the other as she's limping on it, haven't had to deal with this before on any of my chickens or ducks. what all should I do? I see people talking about draining the puss and a knot, what are you using to open the wound to do this?
