Bumblefoot?

I did the epsom salt water soak, veterycin / neosporin for my quail and she recovered from bumblefoot without any further "surgery". The soak should draw the infection to the surface where the antibacterial stuff can kill it.

Hmm.. this might be what I do if I can’t get her to stay still today. I think I caught it before it was really obvious so maybe the infection isn’t too deep in her foot. She likes the soaks so I’m sure she won’t mind doing it again today!

I've never had to try it because my hen was pretty friendly, but I think I heard that wrapping chickens in towels can calm them while you work with their feet....
Again, that's chickens, not quails.

I tried with a towel and with a sock. Quail are just too good a burrowing and she scooted inside both the sock and the towel, feet and all. No matter how tightly or loosely I wrapped her! Of course it had to happen to my fastest hen

I'm sorry! Like I said, works great with chickens, good to know it doesn't with quail. Hope you find something that works for you!

I was preparing the next epsom soak and applying the neosporin without lancing the sores... and I come back to this. She’s brooding an egg and flinging some shavings over her shoulder.
