Our chicken has bumblefoot on one foot. The tissue around is swollen and quite hard and she occasionally limps when walking,
we saw a vet who said it was just scar tissue and prescribed some pain medicine. However, her foot is noticeably more swollen. Is there anything we can do to decrease the swelling or get rid of the bumblefoot entirely?

Hi. I have two ducks with bumblefoot, I took one to the vet and she removed a little bit of infection, she said. She cleaned the area and made a booty. My duck is on antibiotics and melxacam. The bump is still there, she said that it will go down in time and to keep pressure off the foot, keep it dry. But i'm concerned about the bump and that there is hardened puss in it. I'm hoping that someone reads this and give really sound advice. My vet is exotic pet specialist and she should know. When I look at the sore it doesn't look yellow inside, it looks like healthy tissue, so I don't understnad why other people suggest that it be cut open to remove infection. I've read that there is a deep core of infection, but if my vet doesn't want to dig deeper i don't want to. I hope this is the best thread possible for duck and chicken owners with the same problem.

As this is relatively old, i would suggest making a new thread. Hopefully, your ducks get better! :)
