I'm treating a hen for bumblefoot. A kernel was removed last night from the bottom of her foot (pic below). She still has this swelling on top of her foot today. It is a little warm. Does this normally resolve, or will I need to lance the top of her foot as well?

Has the swelling gone down since yesterday? Is the swollen area directly above where the kernels were taken out? Sometimes swelling can take a few days to go down. I would wait a little bit for the swelling to reduce then if it doesn't then I would go ahead and lance it.

Thank you for the response. Below is a pic from yesterday (before kernel removal). I'll keep an eye on it the next few days. We tried pressing on the top of the foot last night, but nothing would exit the open wound on the bottom from pressing on the top. I'm hoping it's just residual inflammation. If I have to lance it, should I lance the top? I put Neosporin & Silver Honey on the open wound last night & wrapped it. This morning, I sprayed with Vetericyn, treated with SH, & rewrapped it. Do you think I should soak it tonight? Oh, & I applied PRID to the pink spot on top of her foot last night & this morning. Thanks for your help!

Here's what it looked like tonight. I did end up soaking up so I could clean out some sloughing from the wound. The pink spot looked about the same. Still a little warm but not hot.
