Hello everyone! I have three girls that have bumblefoot (or the starts of it). Two are doing alright but I have one that has pretty severe swelling with just a dot on her foot.

This is my first time treating bumblefoot and I'm hoping to get some help/insight on next best steps! I forgot to take before pictures. :(

Bird 1
She's the one with swelling. It's just that small dot but I can feel hardness behind it. I've been soaking her 15-20 minutes the last 2 days, but after no luck extracting anything I've been wrapping her foot with PRID/triple antibiotic. Is this a just keep treating and trying situation..? I don't have the tools to cut into it and don't know if it's necessary yet.

Bird 2
I was able to pull off the scab and it pulled out what I believe to be the "kernel" yesterday after soaking her for 20 minutes. I wrapped her up and with some PRID and triple antibiotic and put her back out. This was her foot today. Does this look like she's on the mend? The yellow flesh is giving me pause, but I don't have much to go off of. I wrapped her back up for now. No swelling and she's not limping.

I didn't think about taking pictures of the third bird because hers looked really good, but I wrapped her back up for now anyways and will take a picture tomorrow if I'm unsure of her progress.

Thanks everyone!

Yes, keep treating and trying. I don't know that it is necessary to soak her foot daily unless you feel it is actually helping to soften things up. The prid will take a while to work the infection to the surface.

If it were my chicken, I would wrap every day/every other day with prid, cleaning the foot pad before applying the new dressing. Keeping the injury moist it key so using a bandage that helps keep the moisture in is a good thing.

Prid will eventually bring the infection to the surface. Once that happens, I would keep the foot wrapped, changing the bandage every couple of days and treating with antibiotic ointment until the scab heals.

I have taken short cuts before where I did not keep the foot wrapped/treated after the infection was gone only to have to retreat b/c something gets into the wound and the bumble starts all over again.
