Hello everyone! I have 8 chickens with little black sores on the bottom of their feet, & a few days ago (thinking it was Bumblefoot) I started treating them with the Epson salt baths, antibiotic spray, prid drawing salve, & wrapping. Yesterday I took 1 into the vet & he said it wasn't Bumblefoot (no kernel or pus) and nothing to worry about, to take bandages off & do nothing..... I am really confused - it sure looks like Bumblefoot pictures online, & I definitley don't want to do the wrong thing & infect others, or see these sores get worse. I have also checked surrounding area, roosting bar, etc to see what could be the cause. Would you all agree that this doesn't look like Bumblefoot & I shouldn't worry about it? Thanks!

If it's going into the foot bed (and not just some crud or scabbing on the surface), isn't that bumblefoot? Isn't the whole idea that it's an infected wound that works its way into the tissue? The vet said there was no kernel - did he try to remove it?

I would treat it like bumblefoot. What's the harm?

Thank you for responding! I'm new at this but that is what I thought too... If anyone thinks differently let me know!

Wow, thank you, I had no idea about "Foot Pad Dermatitis!" I so appreciate yours and others response, but I am still confused as to the best way to approch this -

The link you sent talks about how they treated it (differently than Bumblefoot), and then I have a vet who said to do "nothing" (and never gave it a name or diagnosis), and chatgpt describes "foot pad dermatitis" as as basically a "stage" of Bumblefoot. So I'm looking for direction..I'll provide a few more clearer pictures...

It is looking infected, red, and swollen. Treat as bumblefoot. In the first pictures yes, it was most likely an early stage before notable infection or a kernel and could have been solved that way, however now it has progressed. The vet telling you to leave it alone is a debatable thing to do as some do clear on their own, but that is usually not the case.
