I'll try to get some up. thought I was taking picts, found out it was video, so I will see how to get stills from that tonight. The hackle feathers were the only obvious sign, their crowns are not any bigger than the pullets, and their tails are kind of stubby.

the two in the back are roos, but I butchered them a long time ago.

See how they have no combs.

See the grayish one a little to the right.

I had hens that looked like that and they turned out to be hens.

I would not have been able to tell if I had not finally seen the hackle feathers.

If anyone knows how to change ids into still picts, let me know. i the meantime, I'm going out get more picts.

Sexing at the hatchery is only 90% at best. Unless you oder sex links there is always a possibility of getting a rooster here and there. If they are hatched you will get at least 50%. This last round of babies my broody hatched I got 11 out of 19. Lucky for me I had a guy that wanted alot of rooster and took 8 of them the a lady wanted all the rest even though I told her 3 of hers are roos. When I first started raising chicks I went to a farm to get barred rocks. Got 6 of them was told they were all pullets. What I ended up with was 5 boys and 1 girls and 3 of the boys were not even barred rock they were black sex links. Sometimes when you get chicks from people they are not always truthful. They want to get rid of the chicks and if they know wont tell you. Also if they are yoiung sometimes people just dont know. If you want all girls your only true way to be sure is sex linked breeds.

So true. He got them from a hatchery, Meyers, and I just picked six I could catch, he didn't pick them so it wasn't his fault (the other guy probably didn't know any more than I did either, I just took what he had left) it seems like I got the 10%, out of the 300 he bought.
