Hi guys... It is my coop she is talking about... and no it does not leak... However my husband is/was a builder and this is a typical home attachment.. like when you add an attached garage etc
ANYWAY>. what we did is first build a 8 or 11 inch over hang to match the other outside gables. Before that part was sheeted with OSB we flashed the seam (where the roof met the main wall) and shingled, then we put the other shingles on. pretty simple.. Flashing is the key.. and being that its back 11 inches from all weather but a blowing rain (from the north) its all good..
Now my fan hole in the south end on the otherhand got rained in on with a hard south rain.. only once.. we've since made the door for that and closed for winter.
Update:: just went back through my page and photos, have your builder look at the roof in picture 10... https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=30900 you'll see that the roofer is ready to go and hubby and son finished the sheeting.. we were always doing one project ahead of another..LOL since he only gets weekends and to boot works every other saturday.
Its only pennies more for this step back design.. you are building a stud wall to divide the two. and sheeting one side..
