I have a 2 day old buff orp who had some poo packed on her butt. I washed it off with warm water and discovered a weird bump on her below her vent. It looks like a growth - a wort or something. Someone please help!! I don't know what to do. I almost tried to pick it off while washing before I realized it was attached (or so I think).

Hard to tell from your pic, but it looks like a protruding part of the vent. Don't pick it off! I'm sure she will be fine.

I think its the umbilical stump. It will fall off on its own.

Looks like the belly button to me

It is where the yolk was attached before hatching - it is rather noticeable the first week or 10 days usually.

It is fine

You can clearly see the vent in the picture, but the bump is quite a bit below it. This ubmilical stump suggestion sounds like the ticket! Glad I didn't get to aggressive with it.

Thank you thank you! I never would have noticed it if I hadn't been down there washing off the pasty poo.
You guys are awesome. I really appreciate it!
