I got 4 barnyard mix chicks about 3 months ago. I know one of them is definately a roo as he is bigger then the rest and already has spurs growing & has bigger wattle and comb then its siblings. I looked at the other 3 and they all too now have a little bump where the spur would be. I looked at my adult RIR and austrolorp hens and they don't have any bump on the inside of their legs.

If there a bump growing where the spur should be then are they definately roos? I hope not!! If so what are the chances of picking 4 random chicks from 50 or so and have them all be roos???

Some hens have spur bumps too. They just never develop into full blown spurs.
At 3 months old it should be easy to tell your cockerels from your pullets. Post some pics!

I'm thinking the black one in the front is a roo, the one in the back is a hen

On the right hen, left is roo

Couldn't get all 3 in the same pic, but I'm sure the third one is a girl

I agree. Black one in the front (1st pic) cockerel.
(2nd pic) cockerel on the left, pullet on the right.
