Burrowing instead of roosting??

We have 3 & 4 week old pullets. They burrow. They push all the shavings out of the corner and lay there. They also pushed out all the shavings under the water feeder (it's sitting on a tuna can to raise it up a bit) and lay under it. Is that normal? I've never had chickens before so I'm sure if it's okay or not.

I have 10-month old Brahmas.

I have roosts.

They still burrow.

Some chickens really get into the whole "ground nesting" thing, I guess.

I rigged a small roost, with no expectation that they'd actually use it yet. I've just never read about chicks burrowing. Glad to know mine aren't the only ones.
