I finally had a hen go broody, well the eggs would rot and bust. Do you think that it's just to hot for them to set in the summer? I just don't understand why.

Only fertile eggs rot and explode, after the embryo has died. Infertile eggs do not. There are many possible causes of embryo death during incubation, but heat is probably not one of them, unless it's in an incubator that has malfunctioned or has been set too high. The hen could be a poor setter, she was disturbed off the nest, she's had poor nutrition, subclinical disease, inbreeding, etc.
