, also does turkey meat start getting tough after a certain age ?
 
I do mine at about 6 months old, but I also keep their growth slow. Some folks would have them dress out at 40+ pounds at that age, mine are 25 and under. The 'perfect age' depends on how fast they grow vs what you want for a finished size. I did a 3 year old Narrigansett tom, he was maybe a little tough but still not as tough as a 4 month old rooster.
