Butchering- Prep and how to?

Incredible! I never thought of Polish as being that meaty.

My layers came running over to investigate and eat scraps when I butchered last fall.
Yeah, I haven't seen a chicken care either. I don't normally do it in their sight but when I have, they just go about their chicken business.

Really? I saw a video of a man butchering some buff Orpington cockerels and you could hear the rest of the flock clucking like crazy when he cut their heads off with an axe.
According to Jewish law the animals cannot see each other being slaughtered.

Where the roosters upset and clucking or was the guy moving fast? That can startle the others. The way I do it is fairly peaceful.

From what I can recall they weren’t clucking and the man was moving slow. Maybe he butchered them close to the coop :idunno At least it was over quick for them
I don't know. Just have my own experience. But it's not too hard doing it out of sight, so I usually do that for my own peace of mind.

Gut them outside on a plastic table. Rinse them with a hose and throw them in a cooler with ice water. Then I bring them inside, rinse again in a sink, dry they off, and put them in vacuum seal bags. It's too messy for me to do inside.
How do you remove the feathers? I think I’ll use the scalding water method.
