Today I butchered 2 PRG cockerels, both about 20 weeks old, and was pleasantly surprised with the results. Final weight for both combined was 4 pounds 2 ounces. For homegrown birds that's pretty good!

I wish I could butcher my own chickens, I have done it twice and both times I lost my appetite for meat for about a week.
We’ve been processing our own chickens for over 30 years and I still don’t eat it for a week or two afterwards. Venison I can eat the same day we process. Not chicken.

I'm vegetarian, but I've butchered my own extra cockerels for friends before.
Made me despise the cheap meat in stores but have immense respect for the farm raised meats.

Also resulted in a lot of demands for more of my own chickens. Solved my problem with extra cockerels pretty readily :lau

Believe me, when they get loud and rowdy is when I enjoy it. Nothing better than a quiet morning without them bickering.
