Butchering turned necropsy, aka "Would you eat this hen?"

I would have to agree Kikisgirls on this one, and would choose not to eat it. The way I see it, you raise your own birds because you want to eat healthy meat/eggs - or at least healthier than what you may find in the stores. When you find one that is sick and eat it anyway, it kind of defeats the reasoning behind why you chose to raise your own birds in the first place...just my two cents worth.

Meat inspector here. If the fluid didn't have chunks of yellow jelly in it and the bird was a big, otherwise healthy looking bird, it wouldn't be condemned. From what I can see in that picture, the liver and gizzards look fine.

Welcome, bailad! The OP had a hen who wasn't feeling well, and had some issues with (possibly) early egg peritonitis. Meat birds don't arrive in that condition! It's still safest to not eat this hen. Mary
