Butt feather clump

Hey y’all, what is this little feather clump that all ducklings seem to have? I can’t seem to find anything on the internet about it, but I’ve always wondered what it is. It looks like an un blossomed dandelion...let me know if you know! Hope the pictures help

I am pretty sure that is the oil gland that they use to make their feathers waterproof during preening.
