Butter Crocks container

I would love to have something on my dinner table but afraid to use them without refigeration.

How in the world it would keep butter fresh in that crockpot? I know they put water inside of it but can not figure how water affects anything. If water is warm it would melt butter, turning it rancid. I certainly dont want anyone sick either!

I would love to use butter on reenactments, sitting out in the 80 to 90 degree weather does not sound good and it would be a great save spacer and table serving anyone wants butter on bread and so forth.

Has anyone use it? Pros and cons!

Any good manufactors I can buy?????????
 
Solutions catalog has an inexpensive butter bell. Maybe check ebay, too. Basically, you fill the bell and in sits upside down in a saucer of water to form a barrier from air.

I need one of these.... we always just set the butter out (it goes so fast around here) .... this certainly sounds much better an idea, especially when our butter consumption is low

I looked into them because I believe that butter is one of the best elements on earth, but I was put off by the requirements of having to change out the water often and not letting a large pocket of air develop in it (in other words, keep it topped off all the time).
 
Kind of makes you wonder how people did it way back in the yonder years huh. Like who was that one person who took a big ole bite and went,, eewww that needed changing yesterday.
 
I have one that I love. I use mine more in fall and winter because my kitchen gets far too warm in summer and my butter does melt on the hottest of days.
