Hi, does anyone have buttercups? I just ordered my chicks, due to arrive the end of May, and I ordered 2 buttercup females. I don't know much about them so I'd love to hear about your experiences with them and see any pictures. Thanks! :)

I had buttercups as a kid. The hens were medium sized and moderate to good layers. With their color patterns I found them to be an attractive addition to my flock. I believe they were somewhat on the flighty side - almost like leghorns in temperment.

Unique & beautiful birds. The flightiest I ever raised-just this side of Pheasants.

If I were to let them out, should I worry about them coming back? I've only had brown egg layers before that all come back when I call them in, so not too sure what to expect.

Mine were in a mixed flock and they roosted fine with the other birds. they were so much smaller than some of my other birds though just because MM stock is really not up to par size wise. They are a smaller sized bird anyway. I had them because I am of sicilian heritage where those birds originated from. I got rid of them when I sold my mixed flock to concentrate on other breeds.
