Button quail chick with curled toes.

Yeah I have no idea what happened! You see I had 6 chicks hatch in total and only 2 lived! They hatched on day 18-19 the rest hatched on day 20 and looked lively and healthy when hatched they were even walking but come time to put them in the brooder I would find them fallen over breathing heavy eyes closed and toes curled unable to walk and would just lie there or wiggle around on there sides. Anyone know what could of caused this? :/

How long where they in the brooder before you took them out?
I never took them out really, they started to become "ill" in the incubator not the brooder, If you mean when I took them out of the incubator I took them out when they were fluffy. and when I put them in the brooder they would still just lie around. I took the last chick out of the brooder a couple times to give him some boots but that's it. The temp and humidity went wild the last few days when the ill ones hatched. temp going to low humidity going to high could that have been it?

Am I rightin thinking buttons can only go a few hours after hatching without water and food? Could that have caused it? Or if there were a lot of blood rings in the unhatched ones could it be a bacterial infection? Newbie so guessing rather than gospel!

Be sure you are cleaning the incubator and brooder well and try to wipe them down with vinegar. It sounds like they did not get to the food and water, am I right? Other then that we would need more info again. What temp was the brooder? What substrate did you have them on? What were you feeding them? Where did you get the eggs?
Sorry for the loss.
On that note I will have what looks like 2 males in another week or two ready for new homes! I know you are in Colorado so if you want message me....free to a good home!

from left to right chick, dad, chick and mom, they hatched on May 14th.

Okay as for the button quail what part of Colorado do you live in (you can pm where if you want)? My moms cars tire can go out at any second so we are avoiding the highway till we can repair it but we still drive the back roads.

And yes you are right they were to weak to get up and even try to eat! I showed them where it was and everything. (dunked there head in the water "pecked" at the food)
And for cleaning the incubator, before using it I cleaned it with bleach wipes, and used a tooth brush with water on the wire mesh, should I have used vinegar instead? As for cleaning the brooder I've just been replacing the draw liner, I'll clean it out with vinegar today. I got the eggs from barn of angels here, http://www.ebay.com/usr/barn_of_angels?_trksid=p2047675.l2559
I also have them eating game bird chick starter 30% protein.
And it's okay being new to hatching I was honestly expecting something like this I'm just happy 2 hatched healthy.
