Button quail digging

Hello, I've recently been seeing my 5 2-3 week old button quail pecking at their wood chips, as if looking for food, when there is food on their regular tray. Any idea what this behavior is?

It's normal foraging behaviour. If they're actually digging, it might be time to give them a sand or dirt bath.
