Button Quail hatch - - WE HAVE BABIES! Pics added

Oh thats interesting. My cinnamon female has a white bib. I sure hope at least one of them are boys. Do the females blues look like the boys?? Or does it express differently?

The breeder I got them from had lots of white/silvers that came from this male, I believe. I sure hope so, they were gorgeous birds.

I have normals, blue face, cinnamon, silver, red breast and combinations there of. I don't have any white, tux/pied, or fallow. I am looking for a source for the tux & fallows, but can't find anyone in Canada with them. I am going to have to find a breeder in the US that will ship to Canada. I've ordered quail eggs from the US succesfully before. I don't know why so many breeder websites say its prohibited to ship them out of the USA. That is absolutely not true. The US has very minimal requirements regarding exporting hatching eggs. Canada just requires they be inspected to import. So silly.

Oh and yes, the cinnamon hens have a light bib. The cinnamon males do not look like the hens at all. The blue faced hens are dark brown all over. One of mine has a white dot where a bib would be. The males are dark brown with a blue face and chest coming in at maturity.

It's a lot more than that, Sushi. You need permits and a lot of paperwork..It's very costly too. If you want to ship illegally I guess it's a piece of cake.

The site you are looking at guys is outdated...I can help you with identification if you really need it.

That explains it. I love cinnamons, I was hoping on getting one. Maybe next time! Are the whites quite rare?

Great, I'm so glad I have some blues. Now- how do I sex them and at what age can you kind of tell? The boys get red butts..?? Or do I just have to wait to see who starts getting frisky with the ladies?

I've imported eggs legally, and I stand by my statement that it wasn't that complicated nor costly. The most I've ever heard of anyone here paying for the vet papers was $140 through a hatchery for a shipment of day old chicks, but usually its much cheaper.

CluckCluck42, the whites arent that rare. There are breeders in Canada with them. I just don't have any myself right now. The only colour I have not been able to find at all here are the fallows.

Ah, I read that somewhere but like a lot of info on button quail on the net, it wasn't correct. I have learned to ask from now on because a lot of the websites are just plain wrong in their info. That is interesting about importing. I am going into the states to get some eggs in spring because I've heard how expensive importing eggs is. How much did it cost you, if you don't mind me asking? Were the only requirements that the flock be NPIP?

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

Those have GOT to be THE cutest Buttons!

Well thank you so much! I think I have started a serious button addiction in our family. I told the fiance that there is no way we are ever getting rid of the buttons. I just hope the two females I have accept a roo. I had a dream that they killed the boy I put in the cage.
