Button quail having grit for the first time

I have and adult button quail pair that I hatched last summer. So far I have avoided giving them anything but crushed game bird food due to their tendency to choke (have had one die and one almost die). I just gave them millet and some chick grit but it looks like they are eating the grit it the same quantities they would their normal food (and thats a lot). Should I take it out? Will it hurt them if they are eating it rather than putting it in their gizzard?

I'd stop the millet and grit immediately.
