what are you using to feed them? mine was born before yours and only a couple are that size and have wings:confused:

they get fed gamebird crumble and calcium. mine are all getting there wing feathers! i cant belive how well cuddly my babies are everyday they all fight to be held and as soon as i pick them up they fall asleep

im hoping if i keep up with the holding and cuddling they will atleast be tolerant of it into adult hood. i hate to say it but im honestly thinking about keeping everybody:love

oh i see i was giving them chick crumble but i switch between that and gamebird crumble and yeah mine dont like to be held maybe cause they are in a dark box with light but im thinking about a glass tank cause they like flying out of box which is about a foot high and their almost touching light when they jump:oops:

I left mine on the shelf liner for about a week, and then switched them over to shavings.

thank you:frow

I just discovered another chick with crooked toes. I'm sure it didn't hatch this way.

Just added some oyster shell to the feed. Its 24% gamebird crumbles. We'll wait and see what happens.

I treated the crooked toe chick with a bandaid. Made him a web foot. Looks like half duck and half quail. Well, today I took off the web and found nice toes. Chick walks and acts normal. I can't even tell whick chick I did. So that was a big success.

But on a sad note, I had another chick that wouldn't hold up his head and was flipping over backward. Dang!!!

So, as of date, I have 6 chicks. About 3 different colors. Everyone looks good and starting to get their feathers. They are starting to jump and try to fly around.
Whats everyone use to house these guys indoors? I wanted to keep one pair of them inside the house.

Just moved the quail to there new brooder. My hubby built this and so far its great. I have a heating pad under the floor. They seem to cuddle over it. I have noticed they seem shy when the light is on. So far the temp is holding good. Feathers are growing in like crazy.
They seem skittish, does this go away? Any comments are greatly app. This is my first time with these birds.
