I have only had 10 of my 16 bashed up Vail's eggs hatch. With the way they were treated, I consider myself very lucky to get that many.

If it makes you guys feel better I'm having an unusual hatch, So far the rate is unseasonably low, Its not over till its over, but something just doesn't seem right. a dozen or so have hatched, all in great condition, but I set 43.

tick tock

If you guys are wondering when I said unusual hatch, the first hatch came Monday evening, its now Thursday morning and two more have just hatched.

If I had to guess I'd say a few more will hatch also, this has been the most drawn out hatch I can remember. Right now I don't know why either.

Yay! How's it doing?
Not good! The poor guy has been struggling for hours to get out I might end up helping him, another has hatched though and ended up moving pretty much all the eggs around it's funny cause he will get all relaxed fall asleep for 5 seconds wake up peep loudly and move a couple eggs and repeat.

I'm not going try to help the one that seems to be stuck in there till I'm certain it is and the others are done hatching, as for the on that has hatched I'll take it out of the bator once it is all dry and fluffy. So hows the one that hatched for you doing? Are the others showing any signs of hatching? OH and I might post pictures though they will be pretty bad cause 1 I have a bad camera 2 the lighting is bad 3 taking pitcures of them in the bator is hard.

Another one has piped and started to hatch, it's very obvious the one that is stuck in the egg is going to need help out! I'm a bit nervous about it any of you had to help a chick out before? How long do you think I should wait before I try to help it out?!

how long has he been fully pipped? is he almost out but just seems to be stuck? or is he just tired? They will stop and rest that is why it is so important to keep the humidity and air both good. I had one that took almost 20 hours from first pip to full out. I also had one that I helped and he was fine but to be honest he probably could have done it himself if I gave him time. Watch and you will see if he is giving up or just taking a break. Like I said it can take hours its a whole lot of work.
