I purchased a trio (2 females, 1 male) of button quail at a bird show today. The breeder told me the trio would be better than a pair because a lone female in a pair would end up a bit...bald. However, I'm reading on here that they need to be in pairs because they're monogamous. Should I run back to the bird show and buy another male? Or will the trio be happy? The bird show closes at 4:30 today so if anyone could let me know in a few hours, that would be great!!! Thanks!

I never buy trios in the button quail world. I would get another male for one hen. They are monogamous in nature and in my breeding room

Yes, he looks exactly like the red breasted silver! I have yet to learn the more technical descriptions

Thanks for all your help; I'll pick up another tub for the "new couple" tomorrow. I'm having so much fun learning about the little guys..
