Can anyone help me decode what my buttons are saying?

They make this low "crooaak crooaak" noise , I have only seen the boys do that, and then there is that calling noise that any of them seem to make. I have jus separated them into pairs and they were calling to each other last night.
Also I have seen the males do the turkey dance, which Im assuming is courtship... But the girls always run away, how will I know if she has accepted him?

My dear friend Jodi McDonald published a book called "A closer Look at Button Quail: The Care and Breeding of Chinese Blue Breasted Quail"

This Book is the Button quail bible for beginners.

But to answer your question: If you are hearing a wind like sound like a "rrrh rrrh rrrh" that's the male's bachelor call, they will make that sound until the hen accepts him. If you put some little goodies in the pens with them, he can court her and you should hear a "chork chork" sound from him meaning he is really wanting her. Insects work best. I am not crazy when I am suggesting this

The females will normally look unimpressed and take the food if she accepts, the males are the bouncy excited ones anyways

You may need to switch around hens a few times to see if they like the male. But to win the heart of any girl, mealworms are your friend

OK well pretty boy was making bachlor calls yesterday morning but by the afternoon he wasnt anymore, and he actually laid down in front of the female, is that submission? And Backwards was still making the bacholor calls all day yesterday so I might have to switch his female.
